The Database integrity wizard allows you to check if any data in the eLab database has been manually altered.
Note:
- Manual altering of the database is highly unlikely given the level of security surrounding the implementation of eLab.
- However this option is provided as part of the FDA Chapter 21 guidelines.
To run an integrity check, follow these steps.
- Click the Database Maintenance button from the
Administration group on the Home menu. The
Database Maintenance wizard is displayed.

- Click on the Check Database Integrity button.

- In the Specify which data to check section:
- To check all data added, modified or removed since the last check, select the first option.
- To check all data in the eLab database, select the second option.
- To check all data before or after a specific date or in a certain date range, select the third option and set the relevant choices.
Note: The second option is the most secure as any altered data may have modified the date time stamps of the data rows, thereby possibly excluding it from being checked if the first or third option is checked.
- Optionally, click Skip archived data to not check data that has been deleted or rows recording values before being updated.
- In the Reporting section, optionally check:
- Send a report to all administrators by email.
- Send a report to me via email.
- Click Next and click Accept.
- Click the Close button to close the wizard.
Note:
- Depending on the size of the database, the options selected, and the frequency that these checks are performed this process could take awhile to perform and reduce the performance of the system for other users while it is being performed.
- A database integrity check will always send an email to the system administrator.
