To create a new label, follow these steps:
- Click the Labels button from the Show
group on the Materials tab. The Label Wizard
is displayed.

- Click the Create a new label template button.

- Enter a descriptive name for the label template.
- Enter any comments that you want to attach to the label template.
- Select the Resolution that labels based on this template will be printed at – this normally corresponds to the resolution of your label printer.
- In the Label type box, click the name corresponding to the label type you want to design. The available label types are:
- Sample - for labelling individual samples.
- Reagent - for labelling individual reagents.
- Container - for labelling containers.
- Fridges and Cabinets - for labelling storage locations.
- Select one of the options from the Label dimensions section:
- Specify the dimensions of the label. Select this option to create a new label, see
Creating a New Label.
- Use the label dimensions of a new label. Select this option to choose from a list of labels that have already been created.
- Click Next.

- Position the components of the label template by dragging components from the component list on the left-hand side of the designer surface and set the properties in the dialogue box that is displayed.
- Click Finish to save the label template.
