Editing a Protocol

To edit a protocol, follow these steps:

Open the protocol that you want to edit (See Opening a Protocol).
Make the required changes to the protocol, some examples are given below:
- Add a component. Drag the appropriate action or reagent onto the designer.
- Remove a component. Select the component to remove then press the Delete key or right-click on the component and select Delete from the context menu that appears.
- Add a connector. Modify the flow by creating new connections between actions and reagents.
- Remove a connector. Select the connector that you want to remove then press the Delete key or right-click on the connector and select Delete from the context menu that appears.
- Modify the properties of the components. See Setting the Attributes of a Component.
Click on the Save button from the File group.
If you are overwriting an existing protocol a confirmation dialogue box will ask you to confirm the changes, click Yes.
Click Ok on the Save Completed dialogue box.

Note: For better laboratory practice it is recommended that you assign the edited protocol a new version number instead of replacing an existing protocol.
