Resetting the Master Password

Use this option when you have forgotten the system administrator’s password and you cannot reset the password with another account (see Changing another User’s Password). To reset the master password of an eLab database, follow these steps:

On the End User License Agreement page, read the license agreement and if you agree click Accept.
On the Overview screen click Next.
On the Options page, click Show advanced options and then click Use an existing SQL Server Express instance.
On the Existing SQL Server page, select the SQL Server instance that holds the database you want to reset and then click Next.
On the Database options page, click Show advanced options and then click Reset the master password of an eLab database.
Select the database from the Database control.
Select one of the following validation options:
- Password. Use this option to enter the administrator password the database.
- Key. Use this option if you have lost your administration password or it is not being accepted. You will need to request a key from eBioSys before you can continue (see Requesting a Database Key).
Enter the new password, confirm the password, enter and password hint, and then click Next.
Click Accept.
